Japanese 73 kg weightlifter Masanori Miyamoto unofficially jerks 200 kg world record.

Masanori Miyamoto (73 kg JPN) Exceeds WR with 200kg Jerk

73 kg Masanori Miyamoto just exceeded the existing 73 kg class clean and jerk world record by 4 kg in the rack jerk. The current world record belongs to the Chinese sensation Shi Zhiyong who set both the snatch and the clean and jerk world record at the 2018 World Weightlifting Championships with a 164/196/360 kg performance.

The speed, foot placement, and particularly the upper body mobility of this jerk stand out in this lift. Miyamoto’s shoulder flexibility and elbow hyper-extension are extremely impressive to watch. This lift is a huge 18 kg above his 3rd attempt clean and jerk from the 2018 World Weightlifting Championships. One month after the 2018 WWC in December of 2018 Miyamoto competed again nationally and bumped his clean and jerk up to 188 kg.

You can check out another of Masanori’s biggest lifts, his 164 kg block snatch, here.

Masanori Miyamoto holds the Japanese national snatch record at 151 kg in the 69 kg class from the 2018 National Championships. He placed 3rd at the 2017 Summer Universiade with a 145/179/324 kg performance. He placed 12th at the 2018 World Weightlifting Championships where he went 6 for 6 with a 149/182/331 kg performance.
