Szymon Kolecki has the 65th highest Sinclair of all-time, a 180 kg snatch and a 232.5 kg world record clean and jerk in the 94 kg class. He did this at just 18 years of age. Kolecki is without a doubt one of the greatest weightlifters of all time and was in his early years almost unrivaled in his abilities as a youngster. Due to a back injury Szymon’s weightlifting career ended prematurely, his true ability remained untold.
Years later Szymon aimed his athletic ability and competitive tendencies towards a new endeavor, mixed martial arts. Szymon has done well so far in the sport with a record of 6 and 1, winning his first six fights by knock-out and losing his most recent fight by unanimous decision.
Mariusz Pudzianowski is a five-time world’s strongest man turned MMA fighter who found initial international strongman success in 2000 where he placed 4th at WSM. Mariusz’s childhood of Karate and boxing, as well as the 19 months of incarceration he served for attempting to stop ‘a local mafia boss‘ will serve him well as he looks to become Poland’s top fighter. Mariusz has a fighting record of 12 and 6.
Szymon Kolecki and Mariusz Puzianowski will be competing in the 265 lb / 120.2 kg category, some twenty kilos lighter than Mariusz’s Strongman competing weight and 26 kg more than Szymon Kolecki’s preferred Weightlifting weight class.
On behalf of all weightlifters out there, especially those who have been impacted by the ferocity of the once young man who defeated the great Kakhi Kakhiashvili, good luck Szymon Kolecki!
