41 Lifters Barred From Europeans

InsideTheGames are reporting that forty-one athletes have been barred from competing at the 2019 European Weightlifting Championships due to them failing to complete whereabouts requirements.

This sounds like a similar issue to that which led to over seventy athletes being unable to compete at the 2018 World Championships.

All international weightlifters have to provide information on their whereabouts to enable out of competition tests to be conducted. Details are registered using an online database called ADAMS (Anti-Doping Athlete Management System). Athletes often complain that the system is outdated and difficult to use. The system is being overhauled but in the meantime it is the responsibility of athletes and their teams to make sure their details are registered in time.
