Two Postive Tests From 2019 Pan American Championships

The IWF has revealed that samples from two athletes at the Pan American Championships in April tested positive for the anabolic steroid boldenone.

Luis Coca Sierra (Dominica) finished fourth in the men’s +109 Category with a 380 total. It was the twenty-five-year old’s first international competition.

Tania Mascorro Osuna (Mexico) took the bronze medal in the Women’s +87 category with a 264 total. Osuna is a seasoned international lifter who won gold at the 2016 Pan American Games. If her failed test is confirmed, the 2019 bronze will go to Lisseth Ayovi (Ecuador).

Boldenone is a naturally occurring (in a type of beetle) analogue of testosterone. It has been widely used for doping in the form of boldenone undecylenate, which is a widely used veterinary drug for horses.
