More IWF Suspensions for Russian Lifters Based On McLaren Evidence

Following on from the five suspensions earlier this week, a further five Russian weightlifters have been suspended pending the outcome of investigations against them. Evidence has been supplied to the IWF by the World Anti-Doping Administration (WADA), based on that collected by the McLaren report.

The new suspensions are:

Dimitriy Lapikov – already stripped of his 2008 Olympic bronze medal after a positive retrospective test and sanctioned in 2011 following a failed test at the European Championships

  • Chingiz Mogushkov – 2015 European bronze medal (+105 category)
  • Adam Maligov – 2017 European champion (-94 category)
  • Magomed Abuev – 2012 Junior world champion (+105 category)
  • Maksim Sheyko – 2012 and 2013 European silver medalist (-105 category)
  • Nadezda Evstyukhina – already stripped of her 2008 Olympic bronze medal after a positive retrospective test, 2011, 2013 and 2014 world champion (-69 category)
  • Yuliya Konovalova – 2010 junior world champion (75+ category)
