British Weight Lifting has postponed several competitions due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.
The English Age Group Championships, scheduled for March and the British University Championships, scheduled for April, along with an open competition organised by BWL have been postponed.
The English Age Group Championships covers ages from youth (U15 and U17) up to Junior (U20) and U23. The British University Championships is the only dedicated competition for university students organised by BWL.
BWL is not instructing clubs and gyms to close or postpone local competitions but is telling them to follow government advice.
In related news, BWL has confirmed to us that British athletes will not lose out financially from the postponement of the European Championships, although BWL itself may incur some additional costs.
The effected competitions so far are:
- England Age Group Championships (21 – 22 March)
- BWL South Open Series 1 (29 March)
- British University and College Championships (18 – 19 April)
