Canada Pulls Out Of Olympics Unless It Is Postponed

The Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Committee has announced that it will not send athletes to the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo if the events go ahead in July and August as originally planned.

Canada currently has three weightlifters in qualifying positions in the rankings:

  • W55 – Rachel Leblanc-Bazinet
  • W64 – Maude Charron
  • M96 – Boady Santavy

The decision adds to mounting pressure on the International Olympic Committee to postpone the Olympic and Paralympic Games due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
