WADA to Investigate IWF Anti-doping Corruption

The World Anti-Doping Agency has announced that it will be investigating alleged interference with anti-doping at the IWF, following evidence being supplied to it by the McClaren investigation.

WADA President, Witold Bańka, said:

“WADA is appalled by the behavior exposed by the McLaren Investigation Team. The Agency condemns all interference with anti-doping procedures with the utmost vigor. These revelations are incredibly upsetting for clean athletes, for WADA and for all advocates of clean sport.”

He went on to focus particularly on allegations that anti-doping cases have been deliberately delayed in order to enable athletes to continue competing. WADA has requested that the IWF process all existing cases as quickly as possibl;e and has said that it will monitor the process closely.
