Tapering Strategies for Weightlifters

The Tapering Practices of Weightlifters: Survey Invite

Calling all Weightlifters!

We are sending out a call to all competitive Weightlifters to participate in a survey that investigates the tapering practices of Weightlifters. If you have competed in a Weightlifting competition in the last 12-months, we would love to have you take part!

Dr Hayden Pritchard is leading a team of researchers who are conducting an online survey to investigate how competitive Weightlifters taper for important competitions.

Hayden has previously conducted research that has investigated the tapering practices of Powerlifters, Strongmen and CrossFitters, and is excited to run a similar project with Weightlifters.

The purpose of this study is to help improve our understanding of the tapering practices employed by Weightlifters. The information will benefit Weightlifting athletes in regard to improving our understanding and knowledge of tapering strategies used before competition, and may help to guide future research into tapering for strength athletes.

How to take part

The survey will take about 15-20 minutes for you to complete. The questions give you the opportunity to elaborate on how you taper for a Weightlifting competition. We would like you to answer as many questions as you can, as your knowledge and experience in this field are important to us.

We recommend using Google Chrome or Firefox browsers if using a PC or laptop to complete the survey. It would also be useful to refer to your training diary (if you use one) when answering the questions. If you have a coach, it could be valuable to complete the survey alongside your coach, to assist you in making accurate responses.

You can complete the survey using the following link:

We would also greatly appreciate it if you could share this survey with your networks in the sport.

Thanks so much for your interest in the project!
