Another Change of President at the IWF

The International Weightlifting Federation has yet another interim President as Intarat Yodbangtoey has resigned. Yodbangtoey took the role just two days ago after the Executive Board voted to remove Ursula Papandrea.

The role is now taken by the United Kingdom’s Mike Irani.

Interestingly, the British Weight Lifting AGM started just after the news broke and several questions were asked on the matter. Interestingly, BWL maintained its position that the entire IWF Executive Board should resign. This position is reported to be backed by thirty national federations, almost enough to trigger elections.

It was also revealed that British Weight Lifting do not know how Irani voted in the decision to remove Panandrea as interim President, something that is bound to concern those who hope that Irani might be a force for reform.
