A Session Summary

  • Li Fabin (China) waited for everyone else to finish before opening on both lifts
  • Two attempts at a new clean and jerk world record but could not make 176 stick
  • Li wins the group easily but may not have done enough for the Chinese team to select him for the Olympic Games
  • Seraj Alsaleem (Saudi Arabia) with a huge competition best clean and jerk to claim silver medal on total despite being seventh after snatches
  • Yoichi Itokazu (Japan) does enough for total bronze
  • Kao Chan-Hung (Taiwan) hurts himself when his foot slips on first clean and jerk and then lets the timer run down on his other lifts without returning to the platform
  • Kim Tuan Thach (Vietnam) also bombs on clean and jerk, looking well below his best
